For the thrill of the fall
May 31, 2008
I went to many, many camera shops today. To find cheap film. Well, guess what! I bought 10 rolls. The black and white is definitely cheaper in Singapore. I’m throuroughly disappointed. I’m left with two more shops in Mongkok and maybe, I’ll find some cheap black and white. Try the whole afternoon walking from Central Hong Kong to Tsim Tsar Shui (I think that’s how you spell it)
But it’s okay, the Camera shop visits have been extremely interesting. I saw tons of Leicas (!!!!) and I saw a pretty awesome gold rim Hasselblad. I’m such a sucker for film; I go around from shop to shop to find the cheapest one. But it’s okay, I got some camera accessories.
Fat Fiances is a show on Discovery about how wives are meant to be fat. Oh wow.
I like the thrill of the fall.
Wonderfully Random
May 30, 2008
Just a few thoughts that I had while I am here:
I haven’t had a pure pure family holiday in a while, it being without cousins. It gets frustrating after a while because it gets annoying. The children are way too hyper it’s so scary and my brother just has much to talk about.
Hong Kong as been interesting. It’s really a mix of old and new; I guess that’s its charm. I’m in a new hotel and downstairs there are night markets and wet markets. I see live chickens, inerts and hearts all over the place i actually think it’s quite cool. What makes it even more random is that you see little old shops selling like random parts of like a car and safety equipment for construction sites: all downstairs. It’s amazing too to be in the hotel and you look down and you see all the buildings so run down and so different from where you are. Also, people don’t sleep here my goodness. I was still out at 11 like shopping and I ate the awesome desert.
The people here are amazing. I see random people and frequent times dragging their trolleys behind them with cartons of oranges and etc; In the rain, without a poncho. I thought it was so old school and pretty cool.
I’m getting a bit home sick. Especially since I was away before Hong Kong and I really think I want to go home.
Internet access here is gay expensive but I think when you’re extremely jaded and mildly homesick and what you say gets lost in translation- you get the benefit of using it. (heh, lame excuse) Phone bills confirm die. consperm
I need to collect my O Level cert: I can go back to crescent. (:
I need my cheap film; does anyone know where to get cheap film in Hong Kong? if not i’m just going to random shops to hunt already. Text me if you know!!
I AM SKYPING NOW (: EXTREMELY HAPPY. HAVEN’T SEEN THEM IN A MILLION YEARS. HAHAHAHAHAH.
i miss.
Hong Kong, Kowloon

Call me stupid but, I really didn’t know that there was Hong Kong island and Kowloon island. Sigh.

The people who sent food to my house and protected me from the bloody O’s, thanks (FOR NOT CALLING ME OUT TODAY AND NOT REMEMBERING THE DAY I WAS COMING BACK OR BOTHERING TO ASK) it’s okay, I love you all the same.

My favourite people (who saved me from prom, the stupid O’s, and got me my Holga), for all the oddest reasons. (:
HINT: decided to do this cause the Clique failed to remember the day of my arrival from Batam. Bored and the massive intertia which prevents me from packing.
Inside/Out
May 28, 2008

I’d like to believe that the bubbles carry my thoughts;
And my thoughts reach You, somehow.
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand.
Update: I’m back, with a million thoughts. I’m leaving tomorrow for Hongkong. Will be back on the 2nd June. The previous post is locked. (ask me for the password and maybe I’ll give it to you? it’s a 1000+ word post) I’m extremely disappointed, pissed and angsty with the two rolls I eagerly collected. But it’s okay (!!!) I’m going to watch greys, 2hr episode. Text me if anything or if you want anything from HK. (:

Oh Wow, Batam
May 23, 2008
hello from batam. the land of, unfinished houses. or rather that’s my impression because i see the structures and not the full buildings. the internet here is 100Mhps, the computer is laggy and i’m paing $1 per ten minutes. (no kidding) There’s really nothing much to do here (it’s resort like so you’re meant to relax) other than bowl and stroll by the beach; or play with daniel yeo’s wii. I’ve had countless random out of point conversations while working on site, discovered certain new interesting facts and i’ve got ugly tanlines. i’ve got a berm tan, a shirt tan and a sock tan. and my clothes are stained from the clayey, yes clayey soil. i’m currently on my second roll of film and i hope the films don’t screw up on me or i’ll be extremely pissed. sir’s camera is awesome. he paid about $300 for it and it kinda owns in my opinion. they even have wide angle, gah. (eat that daniel yee possibly owns your S5) oh and i got weird rashes on my arm and random popping out things which look funny and feels itchy. oh i think i want to go stroll by the beach one day. looks awesome in my opinion. i’ve met two kids! they’re really friendly once they know you: Ara and Beel (to be honest i have no idea how to spell it but i think they’re cute kids) heh. well they attached a rusty yes rusty hook to my camera sling and i nearly freaked. but oh well, they were just playing. heh.
okay BYE!
Weddings, and Spaghetti Thoughts.

i watched made of honour today(!!!!) well, typical chick flick if you ask me. the only saving grace was that she was pretty and he’s mcdreamy. and i was just simply glad to be watching a movie in a cinema yes i forgot how it feels like already. i kept on telling like a million people i was going to meet my crescent friends and that i was going to watch a movie! in a friend’s words, fine i’m deprived if you insist. (but you’re more deprived watching american idol. seriously) anyhow, the plot was predictable and typical but i was glad just to meet up with bell and keon (even though bell didn’t pay me and was late for the movie. heh) ah, friends are forgiving.
on the topic of friends i was just catching up with keon and i realised that some people can’t be replaced. it’s like how in my entire life you’ll never ever find another ‘bell’ or another ‘keon’ or another ‘lizard’ and etc… you get the drift. there’s really too many to name, but they’re special and they aren’t typical either. it’s like you can’t find another person who’s actually got drive and tells you the most ditzy things like, “i want to marry royalty” in the middle of the movie.
on the topic of weddings, i was at ruby today and i saw this guy with at least 30 rolls of 120 HP5 film today. in a bag. i just stared at it. apparently he’s shooting wedding photography. I want my wedding to be entirely in film. positive or black and white. (thanks oh, thanks lin)
speaking of which, cameras. this random random person came up to me randomly in the canteen today when i took out my camera to finish the roll since i wanted to go process it. then i started talking to him and then i realised that he has a Bessa R, 35mm 1.7 lens. well. after he left i asked who at the table knew him. apparently no one knew him. how oddly forthcoming.
The Om is like coming back full circle. Today was interesting. So was yesterday. And so are my Spaghetti thoughts. Hope WOW’s going to be meaningful. Gerri and I are going to be embarassed by our huge bags. (we’re girls you can’t blame us)
Frivolous is fun!
May 20, 2008
Well, that day i came to this conclusion that wordpress takes the identity out of me. I don’t really sound like ‘joyce’ anymore. If you do actually compare it to my livejournal, this seems is more intellectual. and I randomly commented to someone that I sound funny. and someone said that isn’t it why you moved to wordpress, to post more, ‘intellectual stuff’. (actually i moved cause i was going mad with the math portfolio and i was bored) WELL, i’ve come to this conclusion that we can’t be intellectual speaking things all the time. Frivolous is fun! (ie: gossip girl) It’s not that i constantly post frivolous stuff either, cause i realise i’ve been blogging (wordpress) more instead of posting pictures up… So in a way it’s a good thing.
On another note, i just woke up from my nap sieep since, 4. I woke up feeling extremely amused when my mum asked if I wanted dinner at 12am. Ah, the post-math-portfolio effects. Oh, today in school everyone was beaming, like glowing. so different from the last 10 days!
